Welcome to PlayChessOnline.eu. We built this site so anyone, at any age, can learn and enjoy chess. Your privacy matters to us, so this page explains - in plain language - what information we handle and what we don't.

In short: PlayChessOnline.eu runs almost entirely in your browser. We don't ask you to create an account and we don't sell data.

What we collect

PlayChessOnline.eu is designed to work without collecting personal data. Specifically:

• No accounts. You can play, train, and use every feature without signing up or giving us your name.
• Minimal tracking. We may use basic analytics (such as Google Analytics) to understand how many people visit the site and which features are popular. We do not use advertising SDKs or sell any data.
• No server database of users. Your games, moves, uploaded PGNs, and training progress stay in your browser.

Settings stored in your browser

To remember your preferences between visits, PlayChessOnline.eu stores small pieces of data in your browser's localStorage - things like your board style, piece colors, sound settings, chosen bot, and puzzle progress. This data never leaves your device and we cannot see it.

You can clear it any time through your browser's site settings, or by using incognito mode if you prefer a clean session.

PGN uploads and games

Features like the Game Analyzer and Bot Detector let you upload a PGN file. These files are parsed and analyzed entirely inside your browser - we do not upload them to any server, and we never see their contents.

Newsletter (coming soon)

We plan to offer an optional email newsletter so people who enjoy PlayChessOnline.eu can hear about new bots, training modes, and blog posts. If and when you choose to subscribe:

• We will only ask for your email address.
• We will only use it to send you PlayChessOnline.eu updates.
• We will never sell, rent, or share it with third parties.
• Every email will include a one-click unsubscribe link.

Until the newsletter is live, no email addresses are being collected.

Cookies

PlayChessOnline.eu does not set any advertising cookies. We may use analytics cookies to understand site usage. The other client-side storage we use is localStorage, only to remember your own settings as described above.

Your rights (GDPR)

If you are in the European Union, the General Data Protection Regulation gives you rights over any personal data a service holds about you - including access, correction, deletion, portability, and the right to object. Because PlayChessOnline.eu does not maintain user accounts or a database of personal data, there is usually nothing for us to retrieve or delete. If you subscribe to the newsletter in the future, you can exercise these rights at any time by contacting us.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.

Chess is for all ages

Chess is a wonderful game at any age, and PlayChessOnline.eu has no minimum age requirement. Because we don't collect personal data from anyone, we also don't knowingly collect data from children. Parents and guardians are welcome to use the site together with kids.

Changes to this policy

If we add new features - such as the newsletter or other services - we may update this page to reflect them. The "Last updated" date at the top will always show when the most recent change was made.
